The National Registers of Communication Professionals working with Deaf and Deafblind People (NRCPD) “exist to protect the public by regulating communication and language professionals who work with deaf and deafblind people.” This organisation has registrants from a number of professions, including Speech-to-Text Reporters, lipspeakers and sign language interpreters.

Whilst it is not currently mandatory for STTRs/captioners to be on the Register, many of our members are long-standing registrants and submit Continuing Professional Development units for this purpose.

  • In my long career as a stenographer I have worked at Wood Green Crown Court followed by the High Court, Snaresbrook, Inner London, Blackfriars, Southwark Crown Courts and Old Bailey. After this I covered arbitrations, disciplinary hearings, tax, shipping cases, public inquiries, AGMs, international dispute resolution cases and the Supreme Court.

My first experience outside of the criminal and civil jurisdiction was providing a professional service for TfL. This gave me an insight into discrimination, grievances and bullying & harassment cases within the work place.

I am fully committed to producing a high quality product for clients, with or without a recording, and recognise the need for discretion and security of information. Due to the varied content of cases, I have extensive experience of technical cases and producing a transcript of speakers where English is not their first language.

I have worked in many locations throughout London and abroad and am willing to travel. I have continually undergone professional development to enhance my skills and in recent years I passed the IPS 200 wpm, IPS RPQ 200-220 wpm and BIVR QRR exams.

Thanks for reading and I hope to work for you soon.
