  • I initially trained as a pen court reporter with the Association of Official Shorthand Writers Limited based in New Square in London where I took down the official judgments of the three Lord Justices sitting in the Court of Appeal, Civil Division. A few years later I re-trained using the American machine court reporting system Stenograph, and I developed my machine verbatim writing skills further by being assigned to cover a multitude of court hearings and arbitrations, working alongside an editor, where a daily transcript was produced at the end of each day and sent to the client and the judge(s). After many years of court reporting, where I gained a lot of experience in the legal field, I moved into the world of Speech-to-Text Communication Support working for deaf and hard-of-hearing people. This is where a verbatim note is taken of everything that is being said in a variety of settings, in order for the deaf service user to fully participate. I am still working in the STT field to the present day, attending on-site assignments as well as covering a variety of remote STT work, which involves working from home and using an on-line remote sub-titling platform which the service user is able to access wherever he/she may be and read the sub-titles from their device. I am a Qualified Realtime Reporter with BIVR and NRCPD-registered.

I grew up in North London where I was educated and eventually married in 1995 and had three children. I now live with my family in the beautiful County of Somerset. In my spare time I like to go for long runs in the Quantock Hills and practise yoga.
